    Goals for 2018

Long time no see! 2017 wasn’t a good year for me. Between health ups and downs and relationship issues blogging was just not a priority for me. I’ve come to realize that there is never a “perfect” time to blog. I don’t really make New Year’s “resolutions” as such. I don’t have anything against them. I just never stick to them. I want to keep my goals simple and to the point.

I find writing incredibly therapeutic but because I’ve been so busy with my book editing business I’ve let things slide. I want to make an effort to spend 20-30 mins a day writing. If it’s good enough to post as a blog, great, if not then it’s no big deal.

    Mental health

Last year I was really focused on my physical health. I got bad news where my hip was concerned so it was understandable. However, in the process I completely neglected my mental health. I’ve used my freelancing work as an excuse to become isolated. I’ve always been an introvert but socialization is important. I find it incredibly hard to make friends but I’m going to make more of an effort this year.

On the advise of my rheumatologist I’ve decided to start yoga this week to help me manage my stress. This will also help me toward my goal of being more social.

    Start Saving Regularly

I’m not a big spender but I want to be more conscious of saving regularly. I would like to be able to save €1000 a year for the next 20 years. I know it sounds a lot but broken down it’s €20 a week. It should be doable.

    Travel More

In an effort to be more independent I started solo traveling this year. The trips were short (London and Birmingham) but I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it. I took a leap and booked a week long solo trip to Morocco in April. I’m nervous but also really excited!

I used to read over 100 books a year and post reviews over on my book blog. Again, I used my book editing work as an excuse to not read for pleasure. I want to change that and I’ve been using my Happy Planner to track my reading and hold myself accountable (follow my planner Instagram account). Reading also helps me to de-stress and relax at the end of the day.
